Components of the updrive gears
(1) Output yoke

(8) Torque converter output shaft Updrive housing (5) is fastened to the engine flywheel housing. The updrive has two functions:
To transfer drive from the torque converter to the transmission.
To drive the implement pump, the steering, pilot and braking pump, the transmission charging pump and the torque converter scavenge pump. Torque converter (6) is connected to the engine flywheel by splines. The output from the engine goes through the torque converter and torque converter output shaft (8). Torque converter output shaft (8) is connected to transfer gear (7) by splines. Transfer gear (7) drives transfer gear (4). Transfer gear (4) drives transfer gear (3). Updrive output shaft (2) is connected to transfer gear (3) by splines. Output yoke (1) is connected to updrive output shaft (2) by splines. Output yoke (1) is connected to the upper drive shaft that goes to the transmission input shaft.

(13) Drive gear Drive gear (13) is fastened to torque converter (6). Drive gear (13) drives pump drive gear (12). Pump drive gear (12) is connected to pump drive shaft (11) by splines. Pump drive shaft (11) drives the torque converter scavenge pump.Drive gear (13) also drives transfer gear (10). Transfer gear (10) drives pump gear (9). The implement pump, the steering, pilot and braking pump, and the transmission charge pump are connected to pump gear (9) by splines. Pump gear (9) drives the pumps.Oil for lubrication of the updrive transfer gears comes from two sources:
The main lubrication oil supply comes from the transmission charge pump, through the transmission oil filter and into the updrive housing. This oil is directed into internal passages to supply oil to the bearings of the updrive transfer gears and is also directed through orifices on to the meshing teeth of the gears.
The other lubrication source is from oil supplied by the transmission hydraulic controls for the operation of the torque converter. This oil is directed through passages in the torque converter updrive housing for lubrication of transfer gear (10).The accumulated oil in the bottom of the updrive housing is picked up by the torque converter scavenge pump and returned to the reservoir in the transmission output transfer gear case.
