Engine: 3516C (S/N: KEN1-UP)Introduction
This Special Instruction provides information about converting the XQ2000 Power Module from a manual paralleling unit to an automatic paralleling unit.A retrofit kit is needed in order to perform the conversion.
The retrofit kit contains a relay assembly. The relay assembly is assembled before installation in the power module.
The retrofit kit contains an operator control panel. The operator control panel is assembled before installation in the power module.
The retrofit kit contains a Generator Paralleling Controller (GPC). The GPC assembly includes an internal harness. The GPC is assembled before installation in the power module. The GPC is installed on a bracket assembly that is mounted to the wall of the power module.
The retrofit kit contains a Utility Multifunction Relay (UMR). The UMR box assembly includes an internal harness that is installed. The UMR is assembled before installation on the bracket assembly that is mounted to the wall of the power module.
The retrofit kit contains a mounting bracket that is mounted to the wall of the power module. The retrofit kit contains a shelf assembly that is mounted to the wall of the power module.
The retrofit kit contains components that are installed in the power module.
The retrofit kit contains a harness and wiring connections.

Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment.To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.
Only persons with training in electrical installations must carry connections to the generator.The generator must be wired correctly. A fire or electrocution could result from wiring that is incorrect.The generator is capable of generating high voltages. Ensure that the generator is not on while the connections are being made.
