Information:
CONVERSION: The former brake drums and wheels can be machined for installation of more studs. Because of the notch in the flange of the former brake drum, only fourteen studs can be added instead of fifteen as used with the new brake drum. Use a 5P970 Fixture as a drill guide for the correct location and alignment of holes. The holes are drilled between existing holes, as shown in the illustration.
Location of new holes in brake drum for fourteen added studs.Drill the holes in the wheel .422" (11 mm) diameter .94" (24 mm) deep, and cut 1/2-13 taperlock threads .52" (13 mm) deep.
Drill the holes in the brake drum .562" (14.27 mm) diameter and machine a spotface 1.00" (25.4 mm) in diameter, not more than .03" (0.8 mm) deep around each hole.
The parts needed for each wheel are fourteen each 2D8154 Studs, 9D4513 Washers and 1K6872 Locknuts. Use a torque of 40 5 lb ft (55 7 N m) to install the studs, and tighten the nuts to a torque of 90 5 lb ft (120 7 N m) when the brake drums are installed.
