The working load is distributed between the pin bores and to the hooks of the coupler.The coupling of each tool provides this versatility. The work tool coupler includes hooks (1), pin bores (2), and stops (3). See Illustration 1. This coupling will ensure that the work tool is properly mounted and the work tool has a proper connection. Periodic inspection of the work tool and coupler is recommended in order to provide continuous use.Work Tool Inspection
Check the tool for noticeable damage.
Couple the tool on the machine. See the appropriate Operation and Maintenance Manual.

Raise the tool. Watch the coupling while you lift the tool. The tool will move up and the tool will move out. This motion will cause clearance in two areas. The hooks will raise off the bosses by 4 2 mm (0.16 0.08 inch) in the first area. The second area should show a clearance between the quick coupler and the stop. See Illustrations 2 and 3. The nominal gap is 4 1 mm (0.16 0.04 inch).Note: There is a gap between the coupler and the stop. Stop (3) is installed in order to provide a contact point for the work tool while the tool is being installed. The stop will position the work tool in order to align the pin bores while the pins are installed. The pins have tapered ends in order to move the work tool into alignment.
Tool stop bars that are modified may stop the tools from being interchangeable with other similar machines. Modifying tool stop bars can accelerate wear to the work tool and the machine coupler.
