INSPECT 0R0781 REMANUFACTURED WATER PUMPS IN PARTS STOCKS FOR 3208 ENGINES IN ALL APPLICATIONS, 1361, PI3013 U-37 A-33 AU-30 B-15 C-36 E-32 O-24 TT-6 TA-2 TM-4 PRIORITY Problem Some 0R0781 Remanufactured Water Pumps for use on 3208 Engines have been assembled improperly. Bearing mount compound was not put on the front bearing outer race. This can permit the bearing to loosen in the housing. Affected Parts All 0R0781 Remanufactured Water Pumps with date codes "10/82 thru 4/83" are included. The date is stamped on the pulley face in the area of the part number. See Illustration. 1/830513/01/001 Note that the stamped part number is simply "R 781", not "0R0781". Action Requested All Caterpillar and TEPS dealers should immediately determine the date code on all 0R0781 Pumps in parts stocks. If the code is 10 82, 11 82, 12 82, 1 83, 2 83, 3 83, or 4 83, remove the pump from parts stocks. Pumps with any other date codes are acceptable. Cat dealers should order new 0R0781 Pumps to replace suspect pumps removed from their stocks, and for those also removed from TEPS stocks. TEPS dealers should return all suspect pumps to their administering Cat dealer on an exchange basis. No redistribution credit will be given. Warranty Allowance Cat dealers should submit one parts stock claim for all the suspect water pumps, including those from TEPS. Parts Disposition U.S. and Canadian dealers should return the suspect pumps to the Pioneer Park Claims Room, packaged in their original containers. Send the factory Service Engineering copy of the claim (black or legible copy) with these parts. IN ADDITION, ATTACH A CORE CREDIT REQUEST PACKING LIST (01-084927-02) TO THE CLAIM COPY WITH THE PARTS for proper distribution of core credit. Send the blue copy to AB6D (Canadian dealers - AB6C) noting on the claim that the parts have been sent to Pioneer Park. All Caterpillar dealers outside of the U.S. & Canada should return the suspect water pumps through normal subsidiary remanufactured core return channels. Include a core credit request packing list (01-084927-02) with the returned material for proper distribution of core credit. Termination date November 30, 1983.
