start by:a) remove torque converter and transmission from case1. Remove the four bolts that hold the cage (1) for the drive gear. 2. Remove the cage (1) with two 3/8" bolts as forcing screws. 3. Remove the roller bearing (2) from the cage with tooling (B). Remove the O-ring seal from cage. 4. Remove the six bolts that hold the cage (3) for the output gear.5. Remove the cage (3) with two 3/8" bolts used as forcing screws. Remove the shims.6. Remove the bearing cup and seals from the cage. Remove the output gear (4). 7. Remove the bearing cone (5) from each side of the output gear (4) with tooling (A).8. Remove the bearing cup from the case.Install Transfer Gears
1. Install the bearing cup (1) for the output gear in the case.2. Install the bearing cup for the output gear in the cage. Install the O-ring.3. Heat the bearing cones for the output gear in oil with a temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install the bearing cones on the gear. 4. Install the output gear (2) in the case. 5. Install the cage (3) for the output gear.6. Install enough shims (4) under the cage to have .004 .002 in. (0.10 0.05 mm) end play in the output gear.7. Put a small amount of the lubricant to be sealed on the lip of the seal and install the seal in the cage with lip of seal toward oil being sealed.8. Install the roller bearing in the cage for the drive gear. Install the O-ring seal on the cage. 9. Install the cage (5) for the drive gear.end by:a) install torque converter and transmission in case
