Assembly Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Place the housing in a suitable soft jawed vise.

Install output shaft (16) into the housing. Install key (17).

Install bearing (14) and install O-ring seal (13).

Install the O-ring seal (11) and lower the rotor ring onto rotor set (9).

Install rotor set (9) and plate (10) together.Note: Installing the rotor set and the plate together will retain the rotor set in the assembled form. This will maintain the same contact surfaces between the rotor vane and the stator.

Install O-ring seals (8).

Install bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 75 N m (55 lb ft). Refer to Illustration 11 for the proper tightening sequence.

Before assembly, apply blue Loctite 243 to the threads of setscrew (15) and to the hole of gear (16).End By:
Install the gerotor motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gerotor Motor - Install".
