Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Do not allow any dirt or foreign material to get into the hydraulic system during assembly, connection of lines, when components are filled with fluid, or during any maintenance operation.

Illustration 1 g00104545Attach a "Do Not Operate" warning tag or a similar warning tag to the start switch before you service the equipment. These warning tags (Special Instruction, SEHS7332) are available from your Caterpillar dealer.
Clear all debris from the tool holder.

Remove the 095-0884 Spring Pin from the rear of the tool holder shank.
Clear the bore of the broken holder (A).

Install new tool on the broken holder. Follow from Step 5 to Step 12.

Paint all threads and sliding surfaces with grease as shown in Illustration 4

Slide the thrust washer (E) onto the jack screw (G).
Slide the M18 bolt (C) through the jack screw (G).
Slide the cup (D) over bolt (C) (cup faces the broken tool holder). The bottom of the cup will rest on the thrust washer.
Insert the bolt (C) through the bore of the broken tool holder. Ensure the slot on the cup (D) is pointed towards the alignment pin on the tool holder block.
Screw the nut bar (B) onto the end of the bolt (C). Insure the bolt threads all the way through the nut bar.

Assemble the drive-head (F) to the jack screw.
Snug up the assembly.
Tighten drive-head (F) to a torque of 1200 N m (885 lb ft). The clamp force will be about 18 Tons.Alternate method for without torque wrench:After the drive-head is firmly tightened, continue to turn the drive-head about 60 degrees to 90 degrees.
Use two to three LBS hammer to hit the head of the bolt or the block side and tighten the drive-head.Have a helper continue to tighten the drive-head. Hit bolt head or block side several times, the
