Field Servicing Electric Starting Motors
When you are field replacing an electric starting motor, it is often necessary to realign the replacement starter's nose housing in order to ensure a good fit. On some applications, ground studs are mounted on the side of the starting motor. In some cases, these ground studs must be relocated.When you are field replacing an electric starting motor, special attachments must be transfered from the original motor to the remanufactured motor. The following components may be special attachments on electric starting motors:
Integral Mag Switch (IMS)
Terminal Shielding CoversTwo important parts of an IMS are the mounting bracket and the special vibration isolation material. When you replace a starting motor which has an IMS as an attachment, ensure that the mounting bracket and the special vibration isolation material are transfered to the remanufactured starting motor.Note: When you replace a starting motor with a remanufactured 0R-1091 Motor Gp - Electric, it may be necessary to remove the magnetic switch from the remanufactured motor. When a magnetic switch is not installed on the original starting motor, the magnetic switch needs to be removed from the remanufactured motor.Field Servicing Alternators
When you replace alternators in the field, the following components are often transfered from the original alternator to the remanufactured replacement alternator:

debris guards

Debris guard installed on alternator (2) Debris guardThe debris guard is located on the back end of the alternator. The debris guard must be transferred to the remanufactured alternator to ensure that the remanufactured alternator is protected against severe environmental conditions.
