17. Remove bolts (10) from the cage assembly. Use two of the bolts (10) as forcing screws to loosen the cage (9) from the transfer gear case.18. Install the two bolts in cage (9) and tighten them evenly until the cage is loose.19. Remove the cage and the shims that are under it. 20. Remove four nuts (11) and cover (12). Remove the O-ring seal from under cover (12). Check the condition of the seal. If the seal has damage, use a new part for replacement. 21. Remove O-ring seal (13) from the cage. Check the condition of the seal. If the seal has damage, use a new part for replacement.22. Remove the bearing cup from the cage with tooling (E). 23. Remove bolts (14) that hold the plate to the transfer gear case. 24. Install two 3/8 " - 16 NC forged eyebolts in plate (15). Fasten a hoist to the plate and remove it and the gasket from the transfer gear case. Weight of the plate is 97 lb (44 kg). 25. Fasten a hoist to gear (16) and remove it from the transfer gear case. Weight of the gear is 85 lb (39 kg). 26. Remove two bearing cones (17) from gear (16) with tooling (F). 27. Fasten a hoist to gear (18) and remove it from the transfer gear case. Weight of the gear is 65 lb (29 kg). 28. Remove two bearing cones (19) from gear (18).29. Use tooling (C) to remove the two bearing cups from the transfer gear case.30. Turn the transfer gear case over. Remove the small O-ring seal from the transfer gear case. 31. Remove eight bolts (20). Use two of the bolts (20) as forcing screws to loosen cage (21) from the transfer gear case. Install the two bolts in the cage and tighten them evenly until the cage is loose. Remove the cage.32. Remove the O-ring seal from the cage. Check the condition of the seal. If the seal has damage, use a new part for replacement. 33. Remove lip type seal (22) from the cage. 34. Remove bearing race (23) from the cage with tooling (E). 35. Remove plate assembly (24), the O-ring seal, screen and tube assembly from the transfer gear case.Assemble Transfer Gears (Output)
1. Make sure the magnets on the tube assembly and the screen are clean and free of dirt and foreign material. 2. Install tube assembly (1) and screen (2) in the housing. 3. Install O-ring seal (3) and plate assembly (4) on the housing. 4. Turn the transfer gear case over. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (5) and install it in the bearing cage. 5. Install O-ring seal (6) on the bearing cage. 6. Install the lip type seal in the bearing cage with tooling (A). Install the seal until it makes contact with the counterbore in the cage and with
