The 116-6844 Actuator Assembly and related serviceable components including the 117-1558 Post Assembly and 117-1556 Power Head Assembly have been improved. The 116-6844 Actuator Assembly is used in the 122-3407 Hood Tilt Group. The improvements include plating specifications, lubrication, sealing and internal torque limiter durability.
The improved 116-6844 Actuator Assembly may be identified via a three to four digit supplier serial number stamped in 6.35 mm (0.25 in) high numbers on the power head assembly, between the motor assembly and post assembly.
The stamped number may be slightly obscured by the mounting flange of the post assembly. The actuator assemblies used prior to the improved actuator assemblies do not have the stamped serial number.
The post assembly should be lubricated once every 1000 cycles (or) once every year, whichever occurs first. Fully extend the actuator post and grease the inner tube. Remove the 122-4233 Wiper to make sure that the entire tube is lubricated. In addition, lubricate the actuator assembly via the grease fittings. The actuator post must be extended a minimum of 25.4 mm (1.0 in) before lubricating via these fittings. Pump 15 to 20 times from a manual gun with Caterpillar Lubricating Grease.
