Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent possible injury, perform the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the brake system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Preparation for Calibration
Move the machine to a smooth, horizontal location. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Place the transmission direction and speed control lever in the NEUTRAL position. Stop the engine.
Engage the parking brake. Lower the work tool to the ground. Put blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.
The software program that will be used for this test procedure is the Cat Electronic Technician (ET). The Cat Electronic Technician is a software program that can be used on an IBM-compatible personal computer. Refer to the Service Manual, JEBD3003 for the requirements in order to install ET. Open the software program (ET) and check for active diagnostic codes. If there is an active diagnostic code, the calibration procedure will be stopped until the condition that caused the diagnostic code is corrected.
Once any active diagnostic codes are corrected, select the transmission ECM from the available ECM list.

Linkage Sensor Calibration
Select the "Service" menu in order to begin the calibration procedure. Then select "Calibrations". A second menu will be displayed. Select "Linkage Sensor Calibration" from the second menu.

Components to calibrate
Select components to calibrate then click "Begin" when ready to start the calibration.

The selected linkage sensor calibration procedure will appear. Follow the instructed steps to complete the calibration.

When the selected linkage sensor calibration is complete, a menu will appear to give the status of the calibrations. Click the "Continue" button to move on to the next calibration procedure.

Upon completion of all selected calibrations a menu will appear. Select "Finish" to complete the calibration procedure. Select "Restart" to perform the calibrations again.
