Remove the final drive, the brake and the wheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive, Brake and Wheel - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to final drive, the wheel, and service brake (1), as shown. Position final drive, the wheel, and service brake (1) onto suitable cribbing, as shown. Do not remove Tooling (A) and the suitable lifting device at this time.
Remove bolts (2).

Remove final drive and wheel (3) from service brake (4) as a unit. The combined weight of final drive and wheel (3) is approximately 1565 kg (3450 lb). Note: The weight of service brake (4) is approximately 250 kg (550 lb).Note: It may be necessary to install Tooling (B) in the four holes that held bolts (1) in order to separate final drive and wheel (3) from service brake (4).

Remove O-ring seal (5) from service brake (4). Note: Do not remove dowels (6) unless dowels (6) are damaged or broken.
