Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Fuel Tank

The drain valve is under the fuel tank at the rear of the machine.

Open the drain valve. Allow the water and the sediment to drain into a suitable container.
Close the drain valve.Primary Fuel Filter (Water Separator)

The drain valve for the water separator is located in a compartment on the left side of the machine. The water separator is attached to the bottom of the primary fuel filter.
Open the drain valve. Allow the water from the primary filter/water separator to drain into a suitable container.
Close the drain valve.Note: Replace the filter element if the water does not drain from a full bowl.
