The new spring is made of a better quality material that does not allow the spring to relax (decrease in length) after a period of time. Formerly, it was possible for the spring to relax resulting in low system oil pressure. If the relief valve was reshimmed to obtain the specified low idle pressure setting, it was possible for the valve to reach the end of its travel before properly regulating the high idle system pressure. This results in transmission system pressure that is higher than required which could affect shift solenoid stability and clutch pressures on any clutch station using a 7G2674 Pin.Adaptable As: The improved 6T5409 Spring is a direct replacement for the former spring. The part number of the spring did not change. The new spring can be identified by a white paint stripe on the spring coils. It is recommended that the new spring be installed whenever possible.
