Elevator Chain
Maintain 5 to 8 inches (13 to 20 cm) of chain sag, measured from the bottom of a carrier roller to the top of the bottom chain loop. If a chain must be let out or taken up 6 inches (15 cm) to obtain the correct sag, an offset link can be used. Use offset links in pairs (one on each chain, between the same two elevator flights).To Reduce Sag
1. Remove the two bolts and open the access cover on the elevator frame. 2. Lubricate the fitting with a grease gun and multipurpose-type grease until correct sag is attained. Close cover.To Increase Sag
1. Open the access cover.
Never visually inspect to see if grease is escaping. Always measure sag to determine if the slack has increased.Loosen the fitting one turn only.
2. Open the fitting, one turn ONLY, to allow grease to escape.3. Close the fitting when correct sag is reached.4. Close and secure the access door. If the correct elevator chain sag cannot be obtained, consult your Caterpillar dealer.Cutting Edges and Router Bits
Lower or block the bowl up and close floor when working in the bowl area.
Cutting edges can be aligned for finish work. For penetration, move the center edge forward of the end edges.
Support the cutting edge before removing the mounting bolts.
Change or rotate cutting edges before the mounting surface becomes worn.
All cutting edges can be rotated 180° to obtain double life. End sections can be moved to the opposite sides for extended life.Cutting edges with teeth may be used for better penetration of hard material.
