Removal Procedure
At operating temperature the implement hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.To prevent possible injury, release the pressure in the implement hydraulic system before hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.
Put identification marks on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses and tubes. This helps prevent fluid loss and contamination of the oil system.

Remove eight bolts, the washers and four half flanges (1) and disconnect two hose assemblies (2) from elevator motor (3) . Disconnect two hose assemblies (4) from elevator motor (3) .

Attach a nylon lifting strap and a hoist to the elevator motor. Remove four bolts (5) from elevator motor (3) . Remove the elevator motor and the O-ring seal from the speed reducer. The elevator motor weighs 57 kg (125 lb) .
