Remove Final Drive Pinions And Flanges
start by: a) remove steering clutches 1. Remove two bolts (1) and lock (2). 2. Loosen nut (4) until there is a distance of .25" (6.3 mm) between the nut and the flange.3. Use tooling (A) to remove the flange (3). Make sure the nut is on the final drive pinion shaft before removing the flange. The flange is installed with great pressure.4. Remove tooling (A), nut (4) and flange (3). 5. Remove six bolts (5) and washers from retainer.6. Remove the cage and final drive pinion as a unit.Install Final Drive Pinions And Flanges
1. Install a new gasket on the cage. Put the cage and bevel pinion shaft in position in the steering clutch case. Make sure the groove in the retainer and the hole in the cage are in alignment with each other and facing down. 2. Install six bolts (1) and washers. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 42 5 lb.ft. (5.8 0.7 mkg). Make sure the splines on the bevel pinion shaft are clean and dry. 3. Put flange (2) on the splines of the bevel pinion shaft. Install tooling (A) and push the flange on with a pressure of 15 to 20 tons (13.7 - 18.1 M tons). 4. Remove tooling (A) and measure distance (X). Distance (X) is expected to be .12 .03 in. (3.0 0.76 mm). 5. Install nut (5). Tighten the nut to a torque of 300 40 lb.ft. (41.5 5.5 mkg). Install lock (4) and two bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 180 20 lb.ft.
