VALVE GP-PUMP CONTROL 2878556 - Caterpillar

Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary.
1. Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from any machines that are working and any personnel.
2. Move the transmission control to the PARK position.
3. Activate the parking brake. Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.
4. Stop the engine and allow the engine to cool.
5. Turn battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
6. Remove the oil filter. The oil filter will not be reused.
7. Disconnect the oil lines from the oil filter base. Remove the oil filter base from the machine.
8. Remove the bypass valve and fittings/plugs corresponding to the filtered passages on the oil filter base and clean out any residue or debris. Reassemble the fittings, plugs, and bypass valve. See illustration below.

9. Remove the clipping points from the oil filter lines and drain any residual oil in the lines into a suitable container. Retain the clipping hardware; it will be reused.
10. Swap the hose connections where they attach to the engine. Reinstall the clipping hardware and route the lines as shown in the illustrations below. Note one of the P-clips will not be re-installed. Reinstall the oil filter base and connect the oil lines as shown.
11. Install a new oil filter onto the base.

12. For Group 2 machines (HRC units) a supplemental clipping point for the return-to-tank fuel line must be installed. See the illustration below for proper clipping location and orientation. Also, the clipping point for the fuel line adjacent to the oil filter and base may require re-orientation for clearance with the new oil line routing. See illustration below.

13. Top off the engine oil.
14. Start the engine and allow the oil to warm. Ensure no leaks are present.
15. Stop the engine and recheck the oil level. Refer to the OMM for proper procedures.
