Fuel Level
Visually inspect the fuel level in the fuel tank. Ensure that the fuel tank contains enough fuel in order to operate the engine.Direct Rack Throttle Signal (Petroleum Engines Only)
Loss of the direct rack signal from the external governor can cause an engine shutdown. A 91-8 Throttle Position Sensor : Abnormal frequency, pulse width, or period diagnostic code will be logged. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Direct Fuel Control Mode - Test".Fuel Supply Pressure

(A) Inlet pressure port Fuel supply pressure is measured at pressure port (A). The minimum fuel pressure at the inlet of the transfer pump is −40 kPa (−5.8 psi).Vent Port at the Fuel Tank
Check the vent port that is at the fuel tank for debris. Clear any restrictions with compressed air.Note: Do not allow debris to enter the fuel tank while you clean the cap. Damage to the fuel system will occur.Fuel Lines
Inspect the fuel lines for damage. A restriction in a fuel supply line can restrict the flow of fuel in the fuel supply circuit. Replace damaged lines.Pressure Regulator
Check for a fuel pressure regulator between the booster pump at the fuel tank and the inlet of the primary fuel filters.If a regulator is present, check the fuel pressure at the outlet of the regulator. If the fuel pressure is not within specifications, adjust the regulator. If a problem with the regulator is suspected, replace the fuel pressure regulator.Booster Pump
Check the fuel pressure at the outlet of the booster pump.If the outlet pressure of the booster pump is not within specifications, check for a problem with the booster pump. If a problem is found with the booster pump, repair the pump or replace the pump.
