Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. To help prevent possible injury, turn the start switch off when changing fuel filters or water separator elements. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Open the hood.
Turn the disconnect switch to the off position.

Remove panels (1).

Disconnect hose assemblies (2) and (5).
Use Tooling (A) to remove filter assemblies (4).
Remove bolts (6) and fuel filter base (3)Installation Procedure
Install fuel filter base (3) in the reverse order of the removal.
Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 22 N m (16 lb ft).
Tighten the bolts of hose assemblies (2) and (5) to a torque of 18 N m (13 lb ft)
Tighten the adaptor to a torque of 18 N m (13 lb ft).
