PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REWORKING AND REPLACING THE CENTERSHIFT WELDS AND PLATES ON CERTAIN 16M MOTOR GRADERS

Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The Motor Grader Front frame needs to be reworked on the products listed below by repairing the welds and replacing existing plates with new plates in the center shift mounting bracket. The welding done on the centershift plates was not done to print. Cracks can form in the welds of the side plates and the top and bottom plates of the main frame on 16M Motor Graders.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 22Jan2010 when scheduling this service.
