Introduction
This Special Instruction contains the procedure to replace the tube assembly in the engine oil pump group.Required Parts

Drain the coolant into a suitable container for reuse or disposal.

(1) Water pump elbow
(2) Hose
Disconnect hose (2) from water pump elbow (1).Note: There will be some coolant loss once the hose and water pump elbow are removed.
Remove water pump elbow (1) from the water pump. Set aside the water pump elbow and associated hardware for reuse.

(3) Tube assembly
(4) Oil manifold
Remove the bolts and washers that secure tube assembly (3) to oil manifold (4). Set aside the hardware for reuse.
Remove the oil manifold (4) from the engine. Set aside oil manifold and associated hardware for reuse.
Remove and discard tube assembly (3).Installation Procedure

50.8 mm (2 inch) O.D. PVC Cut to 63.5 mm (2.5 inch).
30.16250 mm (1.1875 inch) slot cut out of one side.
Fits over Tube to keep from damaging O-ring during rework.

Install one O-ring (5) onto tube assembly (6).Note: Use 369-9451 Grease to hold the O-ring in place during installation.
Install one O-ring (10) into the flange of tube assembly (6).
Install two O-rings (7) onto the 7C-1821 Coupling.
Install two O-rings (5) onto the 7C-1822 Coupling.Note: Use 369-9451 Grease to hold the O-rings in place during installation.
Install one O-ring (8) and one O-ring (9) into the flanges of the oil manifold.
Illustration 5 g03678972Note: Lubricate all the O-rings and O-ring bores lightly with engine oil.
Install tube assembly (6) into the oil filter base.Note: There will be a space between the bottom of the oil filter base and the tube assembly flange when installing the to the manifold.
Install oil manifold (4) onto the engine with the original hardware.Torque the oil manifold bolts ... 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft)
Secure tube assembly (6) to oil manifold (4) with the original bolts and washers.Torque the tube assembly bolts ... 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft)

Attach water pump elbow (1) to the water pump using the following components: a new 229-8810 Sealthe existing bolts and washers.Note: The 229-8810 Seal is placed between the water pump elbow and the water pump housing.Torque the water pump elbow bolts ... 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft)
Attach hose (2) to water pump elbow (1).
Fill the engine with coolant and check for leaks. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for more information on the coolant.
