Overview
The Gage Cluster module receives information provided by the Caterpillar Monitoring System main display module via the SPI data link. The information presented to the operator is done using electronic gages showing changing parameter conditions. A pictograph symbol represents the parameter monitored. Figures 1 and 2 give the basic overview of the gage cluster.Each Quad Gage module can be configured in the Caterpillar Monitoring System software. Use the Configuration mode to define whether the module communicates over the SPI, or is removed from the SPI data link. If the Quad Gage is chosen to discontinue the display, the Caterpillar Monitoring System continues to calculate the parameter values. The values may be used for the parameter display mode, tattletale display mode, or for other types of informational reasons. The amount of needle deflection depends on the parameter value defined for each of the specific positions represented by call-outs (1-5) in Figure 1.

Quad Gauge indications (1) This is the left-most gage needle position. Needle deflection is 0 angular degrees. (2) Low Red-Zone value where a low warning can occur. Needle deflection is 28 angular degrees. (3) Normal (Mid) Range value. Needle deflection is 70 angular degrees. (4) High Red-Zone value where a high warning can occur. Needle deflection is 112 angular degrees. (5) This is the right-most gage needle position. Needle deflection is 140 angular degrees. (6) Pictograph symbol represents the parameter that is being monitored.

Quad Gauge dial definitions
Engine Coolant Temperature (1) - This gauge indicates the temperature of the engine coolant. When the temperature reaches 107 °C (225 °F), the needle will be in the red zone. If the needle is in the red zone, stop the engine immediately and investigate the cause of the problem.
