Clean the old gasket from the surfaces of the cylinder block and flywheel housing. Install a new gasket.

Install two 1/2"-13 NC guide bolts (1) in the cylinder block, as shown. Fasten Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to flywheel housing (2). The weight of the flywheel housing is approximately 72 kg (160 lb).
Apply a small amount of clean engine oil on the lip of the seal in the flywheel housing. Note: Use caution when you install the flywheel housing. You may cause damage to the seal.
Place flywheel housing (2) in position on guide bolts (1).
Install all bolts except two bolts in the flywheel housing. Remove Tooling (A) and guide bolts (1). Install the two remaining bolts.
Cut the bottom of the gasket even with the flywheel housing and the cylinder block. Apply Tooling (B) to the areas of the gasket that make contact with the gasket for the oil pan plate.

Remove shims (3) from each side of the engine. Tighten all of the oil pan bolts. Install the bolts that hold the oil pan plate to the flywheel housing.

Install drain tube assembly (4). End By:
Install the flywheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel - Remove and Install" for the engine that is being serviced.
Install the starter.
