Measure the voltage between the following pins on the MJB to PCP cable:
Pin 1 to pin 7
Pin 8 to pin 7
Pin 9 to pin 7
Pin 3 to pin 12
Pin 10 to pin 12
Pin 11 to pin 12Expected Result: The voltage is between 9 VDC and 32 VDC for all of the pin combinations.Results:OK - The voltage is between 9 VDC and 32 VDC for all of the pin combinations. Go to Test Step 5.NOT OK - The voltage IS NOT between 9 VDC and 32 VDC for all of the pin combinations.Repair: Replace the cable or repair the cable. Exit this procedure. Perform this procedure again.STOP.Note: Pay special attention to the orientation of the power connector when plugging the power cable into the PCP. The power connector has keys (1) as shown in illustration 1. The power cable can be inserted into the connector upside down. All of the inputs are protected from a direct short to the +battery circuit, but the PCP will not operate when the connector is inserted upside down.
VERIFY THE J1939 DATA LINK WIRING. Note: A data link error message will appear on the Marine Power Display (MPD) if there is a problem with the J1939 circuit.

Screen for "CONTROL SYSTEM INFORMATION"
If an error message does not appear on the MPD, ensure that the MSCS screens appear on the MPD. Note: The screen for "CONTROL SYSTEM INFORMATION" will appear only when the MPD recognizes communications with the PCP. If this screen is displayed, the PCP is active. The PCP appears to be working properly.

Verify the J1939 wiring to the PCP. Remove the termination resistors from the data link. Measure the resistance between pin 1 and pin 2 on the PCP connector. Refer to illustration 4.
