Blade Circle and Drawbar
Rotate the blade. Place the blade at an angle of 90 degrees to the frame.Note: Install C-clamps (not shown) before you lower the blade to the ground.
Illustration 1 g01249951
Clamp two C-clamps onto the front of blade circle (2) and drawbar (1). This will fasten the blade circle and the drawbar together. Tighten the two C-clamps until wear strips (3) are in contact with the top of the blade circle and with the bottom of the drawbar.
Lower the blade to the ground.
Engage the parking brake. Stop the engine.
Illustration 2 g01241925
Measure distance (A) between the top surface of the blade circle and the bottom surface of the drawbar. Replace wear strip (3) if the distance is less than 1.5 mm (0.06 inch).
Inspect wear strip (3). Inspect the drawbar. The wear strip should be in complete contact at all points with the blade circle. If the wear strip is not in complete contact with the blade circle, shims (4) can be used. If wear strip (3) is not in complete contact with the blade circle, replace the wear strip.Blade Circle and Shoe
Perform Step 1 through Step 4 in "Blade Circle and Drawbar".
Illustration 3 g01241940
Check wear strips (3) around the entire circumference of blade circle (2). The wear strips should be in complete contact with the blade circle and drawbar (1).
Shoe mounting bolts (5) must be tight. Make sure that wear strips (9) are completely seated in circle shoes (6).
Measure the distance between the bottom of blade circle (10) and the top of shoe wear strip (9). Maintain an approximate clearance of 0.5 mm (0.02 inch). Maintain the proper clearance by adding shims (4) or by removing shims (4).Note: The proper clearance will permit the blade circle to freely rotate for 360 degrees.Adjust circle shoes (6) one at a time.
Loosen locknuts (8) and remove the shoe mounting bolts.
Add shims (4) or remove shims (4), as required.
Install the shoe mounting bolts and tighten locknuts (8).
Check that the clearance after each circle shoe (6) has been adjusted for proper clearance. Make adjustments, if necessary.Note: After all adjustments have been made, the circle must rotate freely without binding.Circle Pinion and Circle Shoe
Illustration 4 g01242001Note: The engagement of circle pinion (11) and circle teeth (12) is affected by the adjustment of circle shoes (6).
Rotate the blade. Place the blade at an angle of 90 degrees to the frame.
Lower the blade to the ground.
Apply the service brake as you slowly inch the machine in a forward direction. This will hold a light load between shoe wear strips (9) for the front circle shoes and blade circle (2).
Engage the parking brake. Stop the engine.
At four different locations on the circle (front, rear, left, and right), measure the distance between the tip of circle teeth (12) and machined lip on the bottom of drawbar (13). Record the four measurements.Note: When the circle is centered, the left measurement and the right measurement will be equal. When the circle is centered, the front measurement and the rear measurement will be equal.
