Disconnect grease hose assemblies (3) and remove fittings (4) from both ends of steering cylinder (1) .
Repeat Steps 4 through 7 for the opposite end of steering cylinder (1). Remove steering cylinder (1) .Disassembly and Assembly Information

Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.

(1) Tighten the plugs to a torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb ft). (2) Tighten the bolt to a torque of 3100 350 N m (2286 258 lb ft). (3) Lubricate the nut with Tooling (F). Tighten the nut to a torque of 600 130 N m (443 96 lb ft). (4) Lubricate the sealing lips with the lubricant that is being sealed. (5) Apply Tooling (G) to the wiper seal groove prior to assembly.Installation Procedure

Attach suitable cribbing and Tooling (B) to steering cylinder (1). The weight of steering cylinder (1) is approximately 52 kg (115 lb). Position steering cylinder (1) in the machine.
Install the ball stud and nut (5). Tighten nut (5) to a torque of 1360 N m (1003 lb ft). Advance nut (5) to the next hole in order to install cotter pin (6) .
Repeat Step 3 for the opposite end of steering cylinder (1) .

Install fittings (4) and connect grease hose assemblies (3) to both ends of steering cylinder (1) .

Connect hose assemblies (2) .
Remove Tooling (A) from the steering tank.

Remove the suitable cribbing and Tooling (B) from steering cylinder (1) .
