Information:

The "Boom Rotary Position" sensor (1), at the end of the boom pin pivot, measures movement of the boom. The sensor measures the angle between the machine body and boom and is an input to the CGC/CPM ECM. The sensor continuously communicates the position of the boom to the ECM. The rotary sensor is a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) sensor.

Location of Stick Rotary Position Sensor
The "Stick Rotary Position" sensor (2) is at the end of the "Stick Boom Pin" pivot mounted on the left side of the linkage. The rotary sensor is used to measure the angle between the stick and boom. The machine "Yaw Rate Pitch/Roll" sensor (arrow) is mounted directly below the left side of the boom foot. The sensor sends data to the Machine ECM and to the CGC/CPM ECM. The data is communicated via the CAN A Data link regarding the side-to-side and front-to-rear slope information, which is used in the CPM measuring strategy.The "Yaw Rate Pitch/Roll" sensor is standard on the machine with the hybrid system. Machines that are equipped with CPM incorporate cylinder rod position sensors (arrow) inside the "Bucket" cylinder. The "Bucket Cylinder Position" sensor measures the location of the bucket piston inside the cylinder bore to determine cylinder rod extension.The "Bucket Cylinder Position" sensor is integrated into the head end of the "Bucket" cylinder. The sensor outputs a PWM signal which is continuously sent to the CGC/CPM ECM. When the ECM receives the PWM signal, the ECM uses the calibration datato determines the position of the bucket cylinder rod which corresponds to the bucket position.

The output of the "Cylinder Position Sensor" is a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal which is proportional to the extension of the cylinder rod. A higher PWM signal indicates that the rod is extended further from the cylinder.The Sensor Head (2) and Rod (1) are attached to the head end of the cylinder. The ring Magnet (3) is attached to the piston. The ring magnet travels with the cylinder rod within the cylinder bore. The ring magnet creates a magnetic field around the wave guide inside rod (1).The bucket cylinder position sensor uses a "magnetostrictive" principle. A wire is stretched inside the length of the sensor rod to form a waveguide. At time zero, a current pulse is transmitted down the wire by the electronics in the sensor head. At the point where the pulse reaches the magnetic field of the magnet, an acoustic pulse is generated and
