Hoist Lever Sensor
Illustration 3 g03328811The hoist lever sensor is a pulse width modulated position sensor. The sensor sends a pulse width modulated signal to the ECM that corresponds to a specific position on the hoist lever. Refer to Table 3. The ECM interprets the specific duty cycles as an operator request to be in a specific driving mode.Note: Position sensor (2) does not need to be manually calibrated or adjusted. The machine performs an auto-calibration on the hoist control position sensor.
Table 3
Position Duty Cycle
"LOWER" 10 5%
"FLOAT" 32 5%
"HOLD" 70 5%
"RAISE" 90 5% Note: The hoist lever and sensor do not have a position for SNUB. The SNUB position is only engaged when in the float position and the body position switch is closed. The signal from the position sensor is also used to neutralize the transmission. The Chassis ECM will allow only a forward speed position or the NEUTRAL position when the position sensor is in the RAISE position. The Chassis ECM will not allow a shift to the REVERSE position until the position sensor has been moved from the RAISE position and the transmission shift lever is in the NEUTRAL position. If the machine is in REVERSE and the position sensor is in the RAISE position, the Chassis ECM will shift the transmission to NEUTRAL. The machine will remain in NEUTRAL until the hoist control is moved into the HOLD or the FLOAT position and the transmission control has been cycled through NEUTRAL.Switches
Switches provide an open signal, a ground signal, or a +battery signal to the inputs of the ECM. Switches are open or closed.
When a switch is open, no signal is provided to the corresponding input of the ECM. This “no signal” condition is also called “floating”.
When a switch is closed, a ground signal or a +battery signal is provided to the corresponding input of the ECM.Body Position Switch
Illustration 4 g03324714The body position switch is a limit switch that closes when the body is near or touching the frame stops. The contact at the ECM floats to a high voltage state when the switch circuit is not closed. When the switch is closed, the ECM contact is pulled to a low voltage state. The low voltage state causes the ECM to adjust the FLOAT position to the SNUB position in the hoist control.Hydraulic Tank Level Switch
Illustration 5 g03330567The hydraulic tank oil level switch is a fluid detection switch. The switch sends a signal showing either the presence or lack of hydraulic oil at a certain level in the system. The switch has a seven second antislosh feature, and is used to alert the ECM that hydraulic oil is low.Outputs
The ECM responds to decisions by sending electrical signals to the outputs. The outputs can create an action or the outputs can provide information to the operator or the service technician.Solenoids
Hoist Solenoids
Illustration 6 g03324597There are two solenoids controlling hoist movement. There is a hoist raise solenoid and a hoist lower solenoid. The two solenoids are identical in construction, and control
