Relief valve for torque converter outlet (2) Spacers (3) SpringThe relief valve for the torque converter outlet is mounted on the top left side of the torque converter housing.The relief valve for the torque converter outlet controls the back or outlet pressure in the torque converter. When the pressure in the torque converter is below the relief setting, the force of spring (3) will begin to close the valve. This reduces the flow of oil to the oil cooler.Spacers (2) are used to adjust the valve closing pressure. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Torque Converter Outlet Relief Valve Pressure - Test and Adjust" for the pressure setting of the relief valve.
