Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the engine oil from the engine into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change".

Remove bolts (1) that hold the adapter of the engine oil pump to the engine oil pan.

Remove bolts (2) that hold engine oil pan (3) to the engine.
Lift the engine off the engine oil pan.
The weight of engine is approximately 6440 kg (14200 lb).
The weight of oil pan is approximately 368 kg (809 lb).
