Introduction
For Specifications with illustrations, make reference to the Specifications for 572G & 583K PIPELAYER PORTION, Form No. SENR7022. If the Specifications in Form SENR7022 are not the same as in the Systems Operation and the Testing and Adjusting, look at the printing date on the back cover of each book. Use the Specifications given in the book with the latest date.Hydraulic Control Valve Linkage
CONTROL LINKAGE
1. Link. 2. Holes (three). 3. Lever. 4. Spring. 5. Roller. 6. Cam.Holes (2) are used to adjust tension on spring (4). Spring tension controls the force needed on control lever (3) to release the LOWER LOCKOUT. The spring is installed correctly at the factory and should be put back in the same hole. Increase the tension of spring (4) if the control valve will not hold in LOCKOUT position.Pressure Relief Valve
5S4965 Pressure Plate Assembly.7S8714 Gauge (0 to 4000 psi). The location of the relief valve is inside the hydraulic tank on the control valve.1. Put the counterweights in their lowest position.
PRESSURE TEST LOCATION
1. Oil line to rod end of cylinder.2. Stop the engine. Move the counterweight control lever from lift to lower several times to release any hydraulic pressure in the lines.3. Disconnect line (1) from the rod end of the cylinder. Install a 5S4965 Pressure Plate Assembly and a 7S8714 Gauge (0 to 4000 psi).4. Start the engine and put it in high idle. Put the counterweight control lever in the lower position. Record the pressure from the gauge.5. The correct pressure for the relief valve to open is 1725 25 psi (212.3 1.8 kg/cm2). Remove the hydraulic tank cover if the gauge pressure was not correct.
SHIM LOCATION
2. Shims.6. Remove shims (2) to increase the pressure or add shims to decrease the pressure at which the relief valve will open. One shim will change the pressure 15 psi (1.1 kg/cm2).Winch Drum Clutches
There are no adjustments for the winch drum clutches or clutch control linkage. The clutches must slide freely on the driving hub. The control linkage must provide travel to fully engage and not to engage the clutch.Checking Pump Efficiency
To prevent injury to personnel or damage to the machine, be sure the 1P7411 Safety Disc is installed in the 9S2000 Flow Meter.
For any pump test, the pump flow measured in gpm (lit/min) at 100 psi (7.0 kg/cm2) will be larger than the pump flow at 1000 psi (70.3 kg/cm2) at the same rpm.The difference between the pump flow of two operating pressures is the flow loss.Method of finding flow loss ... Flow loss when expressed as a percent of flow loss is used as a measure of pump performance.Example of finding percent of flow loss ... If the percent of flow loss is more than 10%, pump performance is not good enough.*Numbers in examples are for illustration and are not values for any specific pump or pump condition. See the SPECIFICATIONS for 572G & 583K PIPELAYER PORTION, Form No. SENR7022 for pump flow of a new pump at 100 psi and
