Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Open the hood and the front access door.

Remove bolts (1). Remove fuel priming pump (2) and the gasket from the fuel filter base.Installation Procedure
Check the condition of all seals and gaskets that are used in the fuel filter. If any of the seals or gaskets are damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install the gasket and fuel priming pump (2) on the filter base. Install bolts (1) .Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System Priming Pump - Operate" for pump operation.
Close the front access door and the hood.
