Procedure To Measure Axial Movement Of Swing Bearing
1. Position two dial indicators, (A) and (B) as shown in Illustration 1. The dial indicators must be at the front or rear center of the carbody and parallel to the track.
Illustration 1.2. Position the stick and empty bucket as shown in Illustration 2. Then adjust both dial indicators, (A) and (B) to "zero".
Illustration 2.3. Put the bucket in the maximum reach position as shown in Illustration 3, and record the readings of dial indicators (A) and (B).
Illustration 3.4. Determine the difference between the readings recorded in Step 3. Record this value as (X).5. Repeat Step 2.6. Position the machine as shown in Illustration 4 and record the readings of dial indicators (A) and (B).7. Determine the difference between the readings recorded in Step 6. Record this value as (Y).8. The axial movement of the swing bearing = (X) + (Y).9. Chart A lists the specifications for axial movement.
Illustration 4. Procedure To Measure Circular Movement Of Swing Bearing
1. Position a dial indicator on the outer race of the swing bearing and a magnet on the inner race as shown in Illustration 5. This procedure should be repeated four times with the dial indicator positioned at the front, rear, left side, and right side of the swing bearing.
Illustration 5.2. Put the bucket in the maximum reach position as shown in Illustration 6, and stop the engine.
Illustration 6.3. By hand, move the bucket sideways as far as possible and hold while the dial indicator is set at "zero".4. By hand, move the bucket sideways in the other direction as far as possible and record the dial indicator reading. This reading is the circular movement.
