ACTION REQUIRED
Visually inspect the coolant level sensor probe. If the plastic sheath on the sensor probe is missing (image 1) or cut, replace the sensor with a new part of the same part number. Image 2 is an example of a new part with an undamaged plastic sheath over the probe.
Reference the proper engine model troubleshooting guide for the R&I procedure of the coolant level sensor.

The coolant level sensor needs to be inspected and possibly replaced on the products listed below. The existing coolant level sensor may be nonfunctional if the sensor probe was damaged at the factory during installation. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 03Apr2008 when scheduling this service.
