Remove the piston cooling jets. Refer to Disassembly And Assembly, "Piston Cooling Jets - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Use Tooling (A) to rotate the crankshaft until the piston is at the top dead center position. Note: The bolts that are provided with Tooling (B) are longer than the standard mounting bolts for the piston cooling jets. Do not use the mounting bolts for the piston cooling jets with Tooling (B). Shearing the mounting bolts that support the piston could result in serious injury or death.
Position Tooling (B) in place of the removed piston cooling jet.

Loosen the nuts that hold connecting rod cap (1). Do not remove the nuts at this time.
Position Tooling (C) under connecting rod cap (1). Tooling (C) will span the engine to the openings of the inspection covers on the opposite side.
Raise Tooling (C) in order to support connecting rod cap (1). Perform this procedure on the far side of the engine from the connecting rod cap.
While you support the connecting rod cap, carefully remove the nuts. Tap the connecting rod cap with a plastic hammer in order to loosen the connecting rod cap from the bolts.
Carefully lower Tooling (C) and connecting rod cap (1). The weight of connecting rod cap (1) is approximately 16 kg (35 lb). Remove the connecting rod cap.
