Procedure To Install Tow Hooks
1. Clean and remove the paint from the areas at the center front and center rear of the carbody.2. If necessary, fabricate two 131-5602 Gussets (1) (not serviced) and one 131-5601 Plate (2) (not serviced) for each tow hook. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 2 and Charts 1 and 2.3. Weld four 131-5602 Gussets (1) (not serviced) and two 131-5601 Plates (2) (not serviced) to the carbody as shown in Illustration 3 and Chart 3. Use E7018 electrode for all welds.4. Ensure that all weld transitions are ground flush and smooth when required, as shown in Illustration 3 and Chart 3.5. Clean and repaint the carbody in the weld areas.
