Remove the relief valve for the transmission lubrication. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Relief Valve (Transmission Lubrication) - Remove".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove bolt (1) and install one set of Tooling (A) .
Remove bolt (3) and install the other set of Tooling (A) .
Use Tooling (A) in order to carefully release the spring pressure on cover (2) .

Remove cover (2), O-ring seal (5), spring (8), spacer (7), and spool assembly (6) from valve body (4) .

Remove retaining ring (12), retainer (11), spring (10), and poppet (9) from spool assembly (6) .

Remove bolts (13), cover (14), bolts (15), and cover (16) from valve body (4) .
