Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
The parameter for the ether starting aid may not be activated on certain Excavators. The parameter is activated by the electronic control module (ECM) for the engine. The operation of the ether starting aid is controlled by the ECM. If the parameter is not activated, the ether starting aid will not operate.Solution
If the parameter for the ether starting aid is not activated, use the information that follows. Only machines that are configured with the cold weather arrangement will need to modify the engine parameters.The 266-6046 Cold Weather Ar is the attachment for 324D and 325D Excavators. The 267-8840 Cold Weather Ar is the attachment for 330D Excavators.
Make sure that your machine is configured with the cold weather arrangement. If your machine is configured with the cold weather arrangement, complete the procedure that follows. If your machine is not configured with the cold weather arrangement, no changes are required.
Connect Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the connector port in the cab.
