See the article that follows.Description of Change: This new special instruction contains information about the parts and procedure that is needed to improve the air filter assembly on the machines listed above. The existing polypropylene canister has been replaced by a new air filter assembly that has a metallic canister. The new metallic canister has improved sealing properties and is stronger than the previous assembly.For a complete list of material and the correct procedure that is needed in order to update the air filter canister to the current configuration, refer to Special Instruction, REHS7179, "Procedure to Install New Air Filters on certain 24M Motor Graders". The special instruction can be found on the Caterpillar service information system (SIS) and through the normal literature distribution system at your local Cat dealer.Adaptable To: The new special instruction is adaptable to the following machines.

24M (S/N: B9K522-UP)Once the 380-8939 Air Cleaner Gp is installed, the serviceable part numbers are as follows: 380-8940 Air Cleaner Cover, 380-8943 Band Clamp, 380-8941 Air Filter Element As - Primary, and 380-8942 Air Filter Element As - Secondary.
