2. Remove the cotter pin and locking bolt, then remove the sheave pin (1).3. Pull the load line in toward the pipelayer approximately ten feet (3 metre).4. Lower the boom to the ground and put a block under it. Loosen boom cable.5. Remove the cotter pin and locking bolt and remove the sheave pin (2).6. Pull the boom cables back against the guide sheave on the boom mount.7. Remove the cotter pins and locking bolts, and remove boom pivot pins (3). Remove boom. Weight of the boom is 3500 lb. (1588 kg).
Stand away from boom when the boom pivot pins are removed unless the boom is safely blocked.
Install Boom
1. Lift the rear section of the boom and install the pivot pins, locking bolts and cotter pins.2. Release the boom drum brake; and pull the boom cable sheave out to the end of the boom. Install the sheave.3. Pull the boom up and release the load line brake. Pull the load line sheave out to the end of the boom. Install the sheave pin locking bolt and cotter pin.4. Put lubrication on all pivot pins and sheave pins that have fittings.
