Product Link may need up to 15 minutes in order to establish communication with a satellite. Allow a minimum of 15 minutes to complete the following procedure.In order to establish communication, the antenna for the Product Link module must have a clear view of the sky. Objects that obstruct the antenna view of the sky may result in a failure. If the antenna was obstructed during the test, retest the Product Link system with an unobstructed view of the sky. Connect Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the machine. The ET connector is located on the control panel on the right side of the cab.
Turn the engine start switch to the ON position.
Open the ET software program.

ET will display a list of available electronic control modules. Select "Product Link". Press the "OK" button.

Select "Diagnostic Tests" from the "Diagnostics" menu. Select "Wiggle Test".

Read the warning that appears on the screen. Select the "OK" button.

Select the "Groups" button near the bottom right corner of the screen.

A new group can be created for Product Link by selecting the "New" button.

Type "Product Link". Select the "OK" button.

In the left-hand column of available parameters, select "Number of GPS Satellites" under "Product Link". Then select the right arrow. In the left-hand column, select "Satellite Communications Status" under "Product Link". Select the right arrow.

In order to confirm the two types of communication with the satellite, the "Number of GPS Satellites" should be at least one. The "Satellite Communication Status" should be "Established".
