There are two derate functions. They are active only in the higher notches in "engine power control" mode. Neither are active in "traction power control" mode. Refer to table for Basic Notch Settings to determine which notch each mode is active in.Altitude Derate
This is a function of barometric pressure down stream of the inlet air cleaners of the engine.Full Power Barometric Pressure Range ... > 84.1 kPaDerate Schedule Slope ... 0.19 mm/kPaMaximum Derate Limit ... 5.04 mmTemperature Derate
This is a function of the coolant temperature exiting the water pump. This temperature results from the mixing of the radiator exit temperature and the by-pass flow from the thermostats. The temperature and the output voltage are related by the following formula:Temp (°C) = 111.205 - (Volts)/1.3708Full Power Temperature Range ... Derate Schedule Slope ... 0.8 mm/°CMaximum Derate Limit ... 4.02 mmPower Matching
The highest traction motor current is limited to the highest of the following two limits:Limit 1 (Amps) = K1 × (Notch Constant) - C1 × (Motor Voltage)Limit 2 (Amps) = K2 × (Notch Constant) - C2 × (Motor Voltage)The NOTCH CONSTANT is a function of the notch code. The values for this NOTCH CONSTANT and also for K1, K2, C1, and C2 are shown in the Power Matching tables.Pacesetter
Although the NOTCH CONSTANT is essentially a number defined internally in the software, it can be considered as a voltage signal. The PACESETTER function works through the POWER MATCHING FUNCTION. When the PACESETTER input voltage (in volts) is numerically less than the NOTCH CONSTANT, the POWER MATCHING FUNCTION uses this PACESETTER input voltage instead of the NOTCH CONSTANT in the above formulas for Limit 1 or Limit 2
