Install tee assembly (1) and quick disconnect coupler assembly (2) onto 448-4308 Control Manifold Gp (C). Refer to "Required Parts" Table 2 for the list of required parts.
Connect tool (B) onto quick disconnect coupler assembly (2) in order to measure the line pressure for the parking brake. Refer to the "Required Tools" Table 1 for the list of required parts.
Once the "Procedure to Test Parking Brake" section has been completed, proceed to the"Rework Procedure".Rework Procedure
Restart the engine and build the line pressure back to normal operation condition.
Check the line pressure on the pressure gauge. The line pressure should be greater than 11,700 kPa (1,700 psi) when the parking brake is disengaged and the parking switch is in the OFF position. The line pressure should be less than 1,700 kPa (250 psi) when the parking brake is engaged and the parking switch is in the On position.
If pressure measurements do not match the specifications from Step 2, or the machine shows symptoms that the valve is stuck, most likely the E706 fault code has occurred, and the parking brake does not work properly. The recommendation is that the entire brake control manifold group (C), that also includes solenoid valve group (A), will need to be replaced.
Make sure to wash and clear the internal paths of the line body of the new brake control manifold group (C) before installing it.
Install tee assembly (1) and quick disconnect coupler assembly (2) onto the new control manifold so that additional testing may be performed.

(4) 155-3502 Adapter As
(5) 148-8353 Elbow As
Install strainer (3) between port "3" of parking brake control manifold (C) and hose assembly (G) or (H) that connects to the front brake accumulator. Use cable straps to secure hose assembly (G) to avoid rubbing or damage due to the added length.Note: Adapter (4) and elbow (5) will only be needed for the 980L/M and 982M machines for connecting strainer (3) to parking brake control manifold (C) and with hose assembly (G) that connects to the front brake accumulator. Monitor the strainer and parking brake control valve on a regular basis. Caterpillar recommends that the strainer is inspected and cleaned, or replaced every 60 days, or as needed in order to remove potential contaminants.
Connect hose assembly (E) to tee assembly (1) once the brake line has been purged of existing oil.
