The information in the original article in the February 25, 1980 Service Magazine is correct.--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------Description of Change: Caterpillar has changed its recommendation for oil used in the swing drives and the final drives for the above machines. SAE 30 oil is now used in the swing drives and final drives. SAE 30 oil is more available for purchase than the SAE 50 oil that was formerly used. Also, SAE 30 oil becomes standard for all Caterpillar-built excavators and front shovels.
