Remove & Install Flywheel Housing
Start By:a. remove crankshaft rear seal and wear sleeve
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants put into the system may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
1. Remove the starter. 2. Remove six bolts and washers (2) that hold oil pan (3) to flywheel housing (1). 3. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to flywheel housing (1) as shown.4. Remove two bolts (5) and install two 1/2 "-13 NC Guide Boltsin their place. 5. Remove remaining bolts (5).6. Carefully slide flywheel housing (1) away from the engine onto the guide bolts.7. Remove flywheel housing (1). The weight of flywheel housing (1) is approximately 83 Kg (182 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the flywheel housing.8. Clean the old gasket material from the surfaces of the cylinder block and flywheel housing that make contact with each other. Install a new gasket on the cylinder block.9. Apply a continuous film of 1U-8846 Sealant to the entire joint face of the cylinder block and the flywheel housing. The assembly of the flywheel housing to the cylinder block must be completed within 20 minutes of the sealant application. 10. Install two 1/2 -13 NC Guide Bolts(4) in the cylinder block. Attach Tool (A) and a suitable lifting device to flywheel housing (1) as shown. 11. Put flywheel housing (1) in position on the guide bolts. Install bolts (5) in the flywheel housing. Remove Tool (A) and the guide bolts. 12. Install remaining two bolts (5). Tighten the flywheel housing bolts in the sequence shown.End By:a. install crankshaft rear seal and wear sleeve
