Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the vibration damper guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Vibration Damper Guard - Remove and Install".
Personal injury can result from failure to disconnect the battery.First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Then, disconnect the positive battery cable.A positive power lead can cause sparks if the battery is not disconnected. Sparks can possibly result in battery explosion or fire.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Remove belt (1). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, Alternator Belt - Inspect/Adjust/Replace.

Remove terminal nuts (3) and disconnect harness assemblies (2).

Remove bolts (4).
Remove alternator (5).Installation Procedure

Position alternator (5) and install bolts (4).

Connect harness assemblies (2). Tighten terminal nuts (3) to a torque of 7 0.8 N m (62 7 lb in).
