282-8228     Clamp As     4W-9160    Verify if your machine is equipped with the 4W-9160 Clamp As. In order to know which clamp is equipped on your machine, measure the clamp width. Illustration 2 shows the difference between clamp widths.

Clamp width (4) 4W-9160 Clamp As : 20.5 mm (0.81 inch) (4) 282-8228 Clamp : 25.4 mm (1.00 inch)If the 4W-9160 Clamp As is loose, replace with a new 282-8228 Clamp. Tighten the 282-8228 Clamp to the torque of 8.3 N m (6.1 lb ft). Then tap clamp on bottom (opposite bolt), then left side, then right side, and then next to bolt with a soft mallet. Finally, re-torque the clamp to 11 N m (8.1 lb ft).Note: If the machine is 385C or 390D, install the new 282-8228 Clamp bolt side to bottom side. Refer to Illustration 3.
