The relief valve (brake oil cooler) is located on the right side of the machine to the rear of the cab.Relief valve (brake oil cooler) (11) is a cartridge type valve. The relief valve is attached to manifold (1) and contained within manifold (10) .Pump oil flows from the ejector control valve to port (2). Oil flows from port (3) to the oil cooler. Port (2) and port (3) are connected through manifold (1). Pressure within manifold (1) is transmitted to spool (6) of the relief valve.When the oil is cold, the pressure within manifold (1) is higher than the pressure when the oil is at operating temperature. The flow of cold oil from port (3) to the tank is restricted by the oil cooler. This flow is restricted because cold oil has a higher viscosity.At a set pressure, spool (6) is moved from seat (4). Oil flows through holes (5) into chamber (9). Oil flows directly to the tank through port (8). This process continues until the pressure in manifold (1) drops. When the oil pressure drops below the relief valve setting, the relief valve closes. All of the oil then flows through the oil cooler.
